You will start your walk toward the monumental center of Naples. Your first stop is the Cathedral of Naples, the primary Roman Catholic church in Naples and the seat of the Archbishop of Naples. Completed in the early 14th century after more than 100 years of construction, it houses many historic pieces of artwork and architectural elements including frescoes, the high altar, and bronze railings. Although this excursion covers a lot of ground, the pace is slow.

Explore the narrow streets of this area - Spaccanapoli, Via Tribunali, San Gregorio Armeno - with countless churches, shops, and street food. If you have time to get a bite to eat, you must try the pizza! Did you know that the pizza originated in Naples and was declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage? But back to the sites. The buildings that house the shops are truly amazing, dating back centuries! If you love art, you will be delighted when you visit the Galleria Umberto I!

You will make a stop at the Piazza del Plebiscito. Today it is used as a venue for open-air concerts by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, and Maroon 5, it is a plaza steeped in history. You will see the Royal Palace of Naples on the east side. The eight niches on its facade contain statues of the eight rulers of Naples since the 12th century. Connected to the palace is the Royal Theater of San Carlo, today is an opera house. The Basilica of San Francesco of Paola - an Italian friar - borders the west side of the piazza. And last but certainly not least, walk in front of the Castel Nuovo for a great photo opportunity at the primary architectural landmark in Naples!

Although the area you will visit is a popular tourist destination, you will have the luxury of a private English-speaking guide (or Spanish if requested) to share his or her local knowledge on this breathtaking experience. This is an adventure that any history enthusiast will cherish!

• Excursion prices are shown/displayed in US dollars, however, the balance must be paid in Euros only. The total amount in Euros will be shown on your E-Ticket.
• When visiting religious or memorial sites, please ensure that shoulders and knees are covered for both men and women.

• Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are highly recommended along with sun protection.

Where we meet

For this Naples Private City Walking Excursion, you will meet your local guide just outside your Naples cruise port. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible.
  
• Guests must be able to step in and out of the transportation.
  
• Guests must be able to walk on paved, gravel, and cobblestone surfaces, some on inclines.
• There are steps required to enter several of the sites as well as steep curbs in some areas.

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
