Departing from downtown Juneau, you will transfer to the Mendenhall Valley and the beautiful Mendenhall Lake, approximately 30 minutes away. Here, your Juneau River Rafting Cruise Excursion guides will meet you with life jackets, present a safety briefing and give you a quick overview of what is to come.

Your experienced Alaska rafting guide will steer you across the serene waters of the lake, maneuvering past the floating icebergs, to the river beyond. The speed of the water and level of the rapids vary depending on the weather, but your highly trained guides will ensure you have a safe and exhilarating experience. You will be rafting a five-mile stretch of river from Mendenhall Lake, in the Tongass National Forest.

• Guests must be able to climb in/out of the rubber raft.
• Basic restrooms are available.
• We suggest bringing a zip-tight bag for cameras and other items that might get splashed during the river rafting.
• Children must weigh at least 50 pounds in order to fit into required life jackets.

• We recommend wearing layers with the top layer being waterproof. 
• Please wear sensible walking/hiking shoes that may get wet.

For this Juneau Alaska Mendenhall Glacier River Rafting Excursion, you will meet your local rafting excursion guide right in the Juneau cruise ship pier area. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible.
• The minimum participation age is 5 years old and they must weigh at least 50lbs (23Kg).
• Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
• Children ages 13-17 must have a signed parental consent form to participate in the absence of a parent or guardian.
• Pregnant women up to 10 weeks should check with their doctor before booking this excursion. Women 10 weeks or over should not participate in this excursion.
• To fit into the required life jacket, maximum weight is 350lbs (159Kg) per person.
• No prior river rafting experience is necessary.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
