Your certified, English-speaking guide will meet you at a location near the downtown cruise terminal. The air-conditioned transportation will first take you downtown. The guide will be giving you the history of the island as well as some local folklore and background. You will pass by some of the neighborhoods on the way across the transversal road that cuts across the island.
You will enjoy a tour to learn about tequila and its process from growing to distilling. There will be samples to taste and the opportunity to purchase a bottle of your favorite.
You will then continue to the uninhabited Eastside of the island which is also called the wild side. Known for its vast open beaches framed by the turquoise-blue Caribbean water...you won't find any touristy commercialism here! Just stunning stretches of beach filled with photo ops.
You will stop at the highest point on the island, Coconuts Restaurant. Located at 41ft above sea level, Coconuts offers spectacular views, cold beverages, and good food all of which you will have the chance to enjoy...you may purchase something from the menu and relax.
Your shore excursion guide will take you past the southernmost point of the island, Punta Sur Eco Park, and continue to the first settlement on the island, El Cedral. This tiny settlement played a significant role with the Mayans and in the history of Cozumel. Your guide will tell you all about it and show you the ancient Mayan ruins there along with the first church in Cozumel. There are numerous shops you can shop and browse.
The excursion will continue to the heart of the island for some downtown shopping. Your guide will help you locate just what you are looking for and assist in getting you the best deals. From Talavera pieces, sombreros, blankets, vanilla, name brand fine jewelry and diamonds, silver, t-shirts...you can find just about everything.
At the end of your Cozumel excursion time, you have the choice to go back to your ship or to remain in downtown Cozumel and return to your ship later at your convenience and expense.
