Or if you are staying in a hotel, the transportation will pick you up there. Your guide will welcome you aboard as you head out on this sightseeing excursion to see the top Vancouver highlights and the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.
You will begin your fun sightseeing day aboard comfortable transportation as you make your way to see the urban cityscapes, seaside parks, and ancient rainforests. As the route progresses, your guide will give you some history, interesting stories, and facts about the area and the sights. Begin with the highlights of downtown, including Canada Place, home of the 2010 Olympic Cauldron. Wind through impressive modern and historic architecture, past the Arts and Financial Districts, and the fashion hub of Robson Street. This is where all the cutting-edge fashion and design are located.
Next on the itinerary is the visit to the First Nations Totem Poles before whisking off to North Vancouver!
Your transportation will continue across the Lions Gate Bridge to Vancouver's scenic North Shore, and the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Capilano means "beautiful river" in native Squamish. The bridge was originally built in 1889 by George Mackay, a Scottish civil engineer. Enjoy a fun walk above the old-growth forest. You will not want to miss the impressive collection of First Nations artwork and the historic Story Center. There is a lot to see and do including the spectacular Cliffwalk, a cantilevered walkway anchored to the side of a granite cliff where you can gaze out over towering cedars, and the Capilano River winding through the valley far below. Take an exhilarating walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge to the other side where many unique and informative experiences await, including the Treetops Adventure. Capilano is 450 feet long (137 meters) and 230 feet (70 meters) above the river. Treetops Adventure is a series of 7 suspension bridges that takes guests on a bird's eye view over the forest treetops.
Return to downtown Vancouver and get ready to engage all your senses as you step out into Granville Island Market. This public market is an artisan haven for all things local and hand-made, including delicious food, coffee, tea, eclectic artwork, and west coast music. You will have a bit of time to browse and shop.
Carry on through bustling Chinatown, a tribute to the Far East and the second largest in North America. Continue to historic Gastown, the heart of Vancouver, where it all began. Be watching for the famous Steam Clock located in Gastown.
When the excursion is completed, the guide will either drop you off at the cruise ship terminal in Vancouver or at the airport for those leaving on flights.
