Enjoy a relaxing beach day with a day pass to Little French Key. Spend a little time visiting a monkey and sloth sanctuary afterward.
You'll meet your guide outside of your Roatan cruise terminal (Coxen Hole and Port of Roatan Mahogany Bay) and be driven to the LFK dock where you'll take a small pontoon boat to the private island. There's a limit of 500 guests a day to keep the island from becoming crowded. Little French Key is just offshore (5 minutes) and on the windward side of Roatan Island. The island owners live there and each day welcome day guests to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea. The island is eco-friendly with a wind generator and ecological practices, like recycling, that allow the smallest carbon footprint.
You can stretch out in a chaise lounge or hammock, have a drink from one of 2 bars, and have delicious food from one of 3 restaurants. All are on the water or one of several beaches and you don't need to dress up or go far to enjoy. Catch some sun or sit in the shade under a beach umbrella, swim, or snorkel (gear included or bring your own) in the crystal-clear waters. You have the use of paddleboards (SUP), kayaks, and water floats if you want a little exercise.
If you prefer more adventure in your day you can book and pay right there for a horseback ocean swim, jet ski, or take a guided snorkeling trip. Maybe a nice massage on the beach is in your plans. Those are at an extra cost not included in your excursion price.
Lunch is included and an island delight! Choose from lobster, shrimp, marinated chicken breast, filet mignon skewers plus homemade delicacies like freshly made yucca chips, salad, fresh salsa, and coconut rice and beans (items vary daily). You can choose 2 beverages that include alcoholic plus soft drinks, bottled water, and juices. Lobster is seasonal and may not be available when you visit. You'll be given tokens for your lunch choice and drinks. You may purchase additional food and drinks there.
Drift away in the tropical paradise with powdery white sandy beaches, turquoise water, and caressing sun. Free WiFi is included if you can't leave the outside world behind.
On your way back to your cruise ship you'll stop at Daniel's Monkey and Sloth Hangout for approximately 25 minutes. What started as a hobby is now a small family-run animal sanctuary in French Cay. Most of the animals have come from locals who can no longer care for them and cannot be returned to the wild. You can see the sloths and monkeys as well as Scarlet Macaws, parrots, the indigenous Agouti or Guatusa (Roatan Island rabbit), and a South American raccoon (only found in this part of the world). PLEASE NOTE THAT HOLDING THE SLOTHS AND MONKEYS IS NOT A GUARANTEE. There are strictly enforced rules that limit the amount of time they may be touched per day.
At the end of this fantastic day, you'll be taken back to your Roatan cruise ship dock.
Spend your time at Roatan on a private island enjoying the best the Caribbean has to offer. Your day pass at Little French Key allows you to spend your day how you choose. Top it off with a visit to a monkey and sloth sanctuary.
