Do you like to be in control of your own vehicle but also enjoy the ease of a guided excursion? The Nassau ATV Guided Sightseeing with Lunch Excursion is the experience you have been looking for! Take away the stress of following maps or getting lost by following your experienced guide to the different sites. Spend around 20 minutes at the Queen's Staircase, Fort Fincastle, Fort Charlotte, the Straw Market and more! Afterwards, relax and enjoy your delicious traditional lunch at one of the oldest Bahamian owned restaurants in Nassau.
Upon your ship's arrival in Nassau, you will disembark and meet your guide right outside of your Nassau cruise terminal. The experienced and certified guides will give you a thorough safety briefing on the automatic ATV. You can choose to drive solo or with one passenger - please see the restrictions and pricing. You will be given a helmet to ensure that you are safe while driving the vehicle. Insurance on the ATV is also included.
Once you are ready to roll you will follow your guide as you head off on your 2 and a half hour adventure around the eastern portion of Nassau. First, you will head to Fort Fincastle. Fincastle is constructed of limestone, it was built in 1793 on top of Bennet's Hill. Lord Dunmore had the fort built in the shape of a paddle-wheel steamer. The second sight you will visit is the Queen's Staircase, which was built after Fort Fincastle was completed. Direct access was needed to the top of Bennet's Hill, prompting the start of the Queen's Staircase. It was eventually named after Queen Victoria, who in 1837 signed a declaration to abolish slavery.
Hop back on your ATV and take off towards the Straw Market, located on Bay Street in downtown Nassau. Here you will get a chance to purchase your own authentic Bahamian craft! Be ready to negotiate a price on many handcrafted items such as conch shell jewelry, hand-woven straw bags, hats, or dolls, wooden carvings and more. After you've satisfied your itch to shop, climb back aboard your ATV to continue your excursion.
Next, you will stop at Fort Charlotte, another limestone fortress built by Lord Dunmore in 1788. This fort is equipped with 42 cannons, dungeons, a moat and underground passageways! Afterwards, you will cruise to the Government House, the official residence of the Governor General of Bahamas.
By now you have surely worked up an appetite, just in time to arrive at one of the oldest restaurants in Nassau. A traditional Bahamian lunch of chicken or fish with peas and rice, macaroni, fried plantain, conch fritter appetizer and homemade lemonade will be served. After you have had your fill cruise back to your starting location, where you are free to return to your cruise ship or continue exploring Nassau on your own.
