Ride along effortlessly and in style on Electric Bikes while you explore the seaside and city of Marseille, France's second-largest city. Peddle approximately 15 miles (25km) through the city effortlessly with the help of smooth riding and simple-to-operate electric bikes, fun for the whole family! Visit the Museum area, the Vallon des Auffes, Kennedy Corniche, the Pharo Palace, Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica, and more.

Upon meeting your guide directly at your Marseille cruise pier you will be brought via shuttle to their bike park. Here you will be instructed on the operation of the state-of-the-art Electric Bikes. If you can ride a normal bike this will be a breeze. The battery propels you along so that you barely have to pedal the bike at all, making going uphill no problem! You will be given a helmet and yellow vest to make you more visible and safe. Each bike has saddleback storage to stash your small belongings. There is a maximum of eight guests on each excursion, so you know that you will have plenty of personal attention. Trailers and seats are available for the small ones in your family who are unable to pedal themselves.

After you have become comfortable on your bike, you will head out following your guide, riding along the alleyways and roads of Marseille, going on routes that are often only used by locals. First, you will view the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations, which is located at the entrance of the old Harbor, besides the location of the 17th-century Fort Saint-Jean. Next, turn your bikes towards the Pharo Palace, built atop a hill overlooking the bay. It was built for Prince-President Louis-Napoleon, though he never actually stayed there. After his death, his only heir, Empress Eugenie, donated the Palace to the city.

Riding north you will find yourself in Vallon des Auffes, a small angler's haven, comprised of fishermen's cabins and small fishing boats. Soon you will find yourself pedaling along the Kennedy Corniche, this stretch of road was named after President Kennedy. Here you will have fantastic views of the Prado Beaches, Iles de Frioul, the Mediterranean Sea, and many 19th-century villas.

Finally, you will peddle towards the most anticipated stop of all, the Notre Dame de la Garde. Built by architect Henri-Jacques Esperandieu this Neo-Byzantine style church is the single most visited site in all of Marseille. Due to its location on the outcrop of limestone close to the coast, it is an important landmark to passing ships and served as a lookout and stronghold over time.

To finish off your adventure around Marseille you will cruise through the Panier district. Founded by the Greeks over 2,600 years ago, Le Panier is famous for her small brick pathways and charming architecture. Then ride through the Joliette district, which was at one time a hub for the industrial industry. At the end of your ride, you will return your bike and be brought back to your Marseille cruise ship pier via shuttle.

Excursion Notes

• The bikes are electric so there will not be extensive pedaling.
• We suggest you have cash (Euros) on hand for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
• Wear comfortable clothing, and closed-toed shoes, and use sun protection. Water will be given out, extra water is okay to bring.

Where we meet

For the Marseille Best of the City Electric Bike Sightseeing Excursion, you will meet at your cruise port. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• Guest must measure at least 4.9ft (1.45 m), be in good health, and be able to ride a bike comfortably along streets with traffic.
• The minimum age to ride alone is 12 years old. Younger children are allowed if they pass a bicycle riding check.
• The maximum weight to participate is 220 lbs (110 Kg).
  
• There is a minimum of 2 guests needed for the excursion.
  
• Child trailer - Weehoo Igo is available for rent (20 Euros) carrying kids with a maximum weight of 77 lbs (35 kg) directly on site. Please indicate on your order that a trailer or child seat will be needed.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
