Your full-day adventure begins at your Las Palmas Gran Canaria cruise pier where you will meet your friendly and knowledgeable guide. Then you are off on your day of adventure and discovery. Your first stop will be a visit an aboriginal troglodyte village! You will learn about the Canaria and the Guanches, who are believed to have inhabited the island as early as 500 BC. They called the island Tamaran, meaning Land of the Brave. These aboriginal people lived in relative isolation until the 14th century when the island was visited by Castilians. Although Guanches were the indigenous peoples of Tenerife, the name was eventually applied to all populations of the Canary Islands. Discover the rich history of Gran Canaria!
Your next stop will include a visit to the fishing village of Puerto de Mogan, known to tourists as the "Southern Venice!" The fishing harbor and marina are linked by canals, contributing to its nickname. Located at the mouth of a steep-sided valley, the beaches of Mogan are very attractive!
The fun adventure continues with a visit to some of the natural sites such as the Maspalomas Dunes on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. Formed by sand from the bottom of the ocean during the last ice age, these incredible sand dunes have been granted protected status as a nature reserve for over a century and were a contender in the 12 Treasures of Spain competition. You will have some free time for sunbathing and/or eating (at your own expense).
At the end of your day-long, small group adventure, you will return to your Las Palmas Gran Canaria cruise pier with a much greater understanding of this beautiful island and culture!
