Your day begins upon arrival in Kotor. After meeting your knowledgeable guide, you’ll board your minivan for a short and scenic drive along the beautiful coastline, reaching the Old Town of Perast. As you step into this ancient city, you’ll be immediately struck by its tranquility and the vibrant views that surround you. Perast is nestled beneath the hill of St. Elijah, protected by the high ridges of Kotor, and faces the sparkling sea. This picturesque town will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on every visitor!
Your exploration starts at the central Pjaca square, home to the Church of St. Nicholas, a 16th-century marvel with a 55-meter bell tower. Your guide will then lead you to the Fortress of St. Cross, with its nine defensive towers, as well as the Church of St. Anne, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the Zmajevi Diocese, each showcasing its unique architectural beauty.
Next, you’ll take a boat ride to the breathtaking island of Our Lady of the Rocks. According to legend, the island was created in 1452 when the Morteši brothers discovered an icon of the Virgin Mary in the bay. The icon is said to have cured the brothers' illnesses, prompting the townsfolk to build a church in honor of this miracle. Over time, as visitors continued to throw rocks into the bay, an artificial island was formed—a tradition that continues every year on July 22nd. The ferry ticket and entrance to the Lady of the Rocks are not included and must be paid directly to the operator. The ferry costs approximately 5 euros per person, and the entrance fee is about 1.5 euros per person.
After you visit Our Lady of the Rocks, you’ll return by boat to Perast, where your guide will assist you in boarding your minivan for the return trip to your meeting point. From there, you can choose to head back to your cruise terminal or continue exploring this charming town at your own pace.
