Once you disembark in Juneau, you will meet your friendly guide/driver right at the cruise ship pier area. They will guide you to your air-conditioned private transportation and your incredible day in Juneau will start. Juneau is the largest landmass capital city in America, so it has so much to offer.
Your guide will take you on an over 100-mile adventure through old mining areas, the Shrine of Saint Therese, Mendenhall glacier views, salmon hatchery, the Governor's mansion and so much more. Additionally, Juneau is very well known for its amazing wildlife, so get your camera ready as you might see some of it, like bears, mountain goats, eagles, seals, otters and yes, even whales can be seen from the road. If you are lucky you might get beautiful shoots! Your guide will also provide you with binoculars to have more chances to get the best views!
For example, there is no better place to see bears than Alaska, as this is the only country that has all three species in North America, black bears, brown bears, and polar bears. Next, your knowledgeable guide will take you to the best spots to see harbor seals, which usually can be seen basking on rocks near the shore or swimming in the ocean! Be prepared, as eagles can also be seen along the coast, lakes, and rivers, where they have abundant food!
To finish your journey through Alaska, you will visit a few interesting photo stops. Your guide will share some history while taking you to these interesting landmarks, sheep Creek, which is a popular spot for salmon fishing in Juneau, and, great to see bald eagles. The Shrine of Therese, popularly known as "The Little Flower of Jesus" where you can admire the beauty of Lynn Canal and the Chilkat Mountains in the background. The Governor's mansion was built in 1913 resembling the twentieth-century New England colonial style. There will be so much to see during the road, like totem poles, iconic humpback whale bronze statue which is perfect for pictures! and maybe spot some whales!
At the end of your private experience, your friendly guide will take you back to the cruise ship pier area and you can return to your cruise ship to rest and relax or continue exploring on your own.
Where we meet
For the Juneau Private Sightseeing and Highlights Excursion, you will meet your local excursion guide right in the Juneau cruise pier area. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.
Cancellation
For the Juneau Private Highlights Sightseeing Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if: Canceled by client prior to excursion date with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by email to reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com.
For cancellation reasons below, you must contact us via email within 14 days after your excursion:
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
- Your ship skips/misses the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
- Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
