Note that the order of this Grand Turk shore excursion may be switched in order to avoid crowds.
Your knowledgeable shore excursion guide/driver will take you around Grand Turk island and point out some of the best highlights along the way. Although it's only 6.9 square miles, the island of Grand Turk is the largest island that makes up the Turks and Caicos Islands. The driver will point out the sights and highlights as you travel along the coastline. The sightseeing portion of this shore excursion from Grand Turk port of call is approximately 1.5 hours long with photo stops along the way. Free WiFi in the van makes posting your sightseeing photos fast!
Some of the highlights include:
John Glenn monument with replica Mercury 7 space capsule
Grand Turk Lighthouse - brief stop
The famous wild donkeys and horses that roam free
Cockburn City - brief stop
Columbus Landing
Scenic coastal shoreline and beaches
And more...
When you arrive back at the shore excursion meeting point, you will be helped from the van into the stingray snorkel excursion boat that will take you the short distance to Gibbs Cay - a small island located about a mile offshore. Gibbs Cay, also known as Stingray City, is the perfect place to encounter the Southern Stingrays that come to frequent the waters looking for some "fish treat handouts" from the stingray shore excursion guides. The water is very shallow and warm so guests can kneel on the sandy bottom, stand or even snorkel above to watch and interact with the rays. Fee-free snorkeling with the Grand Turk stingrays, all necessary snorkel excursion, and supervision is provided!
Your Grand Cayman stingray snorkel excursion guide is highly trained and experienced with handling the stingrays in a safe manner that is good for you and the rays. You will have the chance to touch, pet, and possibly even receive a ray kiss. Great photo opportunities, especially when snorkeling with the stingrays! Guests may also relax on the white sandy beach of Gibbs Cay but note that there is nothing except Mother Nature at Gibbs. Guests will have approximately 30-45 minutes with the stingrays at Gibbs Cay, Grand Turk.
The shore excursion boat will take you back to the meeting point next to your Grand Turk cruise pier after your fun day shore excursion.
