The sightseeing excursion bus will circle Funchal city with numerous stops along the way at all the must-see locations. Stay on the whole loop for a city overview or get off at any/all of the stops for an in-depth exploration. The choice is yours! As the bus moves from stop to stop, you can pick and choose which stops to get off at and explore. Tailor-make the day the way you want it! Along the way, you will learn some history of the city through an individual audio system with earphones, offered in 14 languages including English, Portuguese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Dutch, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Norwegian, Chinese, and Polish. You may book up to 3 months prior to your excursion date.

Upon boarding, you will receive a map and guide from either your driver or hostess. (Click here for a non-commercial copy of the Funchal City Sightseeing Excursion Map). Your sightseeing shore excursion driver or hostess, while not a guide, can answer many general questions you might have.

The first Funchal City Sightseeing Excursion bus departs Stop #1 at 9:30 AM. Buses run every 20 minutes, year-round. The route has 21 stops, and it takes approximately 90 minutes to do the entire loop without getting off, from the time you board the bus. So plan for a minimum of 90 minutes.

Excursion Notes

• Excursion prices shown are quoted in US dollars.
• As you may be visiting a religious or memorial site, shoulders and knees must be covered for men and women.
• We suggest you have cash (Euros) on hand for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
• Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are highly recommended along with sun protection.
• Please note that admission or entrance fees to the attractions/museums, etc are not included.
• This is for the Red Line route only.

For this Funchal City Sightseeing Hop On Hop Off Bus Excursion, there are numerous starting locations all over town, including locations near your cruise pier. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• Fold-up wheelchairs can be accommodated on the lower level of the bus only.
• Many sites in the city are not wheelchair accessible.
• Guests must be able to navigate a narrow steep staircase to access the top deck of the bus.
• Guests must be able to walk on paved, gravel and cobblestone surfaces, some on inclines at most stops.
• There are steps required to enter several of the sites as well as steep curbs in some areas.
• Seating on the bus is on a first come basis.
• Excursion tickets are only valid on City Sightseeing buses. Unused tickets or tickets presented to another operator are non-refundable.
• As there is no specific end time the excursion, it is the guest's responsibility to know their ships scheduled departure time and plan their day to be back on board at the appointed time.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
• Your ship misses/skips the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
  
• Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
