Enjoy sightseeing around the island with your private guide driving an open-air dune buggy!
Come along with us on this private excursion that includes all the best of Cozumel but without the crowds! You will get to pick your departure time, and who you include in your party, and then head out on a private guided dune buggy excursion that will include Punta Sur Eco Park, private guided snorkel over a beautiful reef, a visit to the island's east side along with a Mexican lunch at a beachside club, and so much more. Escape the crowds and enjoy your private excursion. Personalize the excursion to suit you...spend less time at one location, more time at another, or switch out to do something you might enjoy more.
This great day will start close to your Cozumel cruise ship pier at the departure time that suits your group the best. Your friendly, private, guide will meet you there and take you to the dune buggy. The buggies are all stick shift and seat up to 4 adults and 1 small child seated in the back. These are open-air dune buggies so get ready to enjoy the island in a fun style.
Please note that the minimum you need to order is a combination of 4 passengers - adult and child mix.
Then it's time to follow your private excursion guide along the island to Punta Sur Eco Park, which is at the southern tip. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of the Caribbean while driving through the lush jungle vegetation.
Once you've arrived at Punta Sur, you'll have the chance to see the original lighthouse known as "Faro de Celarain," see Columbia Lagoon known for its large population of crocodiles, visit the ancient Mayan weather station El Caracol before moving over to spend time on a spectacular beach with hammocks and lounge chairs. There are over 50 species of tropical birds that call this park home along with various other wildlife such as iguanas and the Cozumel raccoon so keep your eyes peeled along the way.
At the beach, you'll also have the chance to do some snorkeling over the second-largest reef system in the world. Your guide will pass out all of the snorkel gear including mask, snorkel, fins, and flotation devices, and demonstrate how to use it all before leading you into the water for a private guided snorkel. You'll be amazed at the tropical beauty of the coral reef system and the underwater fan garden. Guests may choose to skip the snorkeling portion and just relax on the beach in a beach chair.
Once the snorkeling is completed, it's time to head along the paved road of the wild side of Cozumel. Check out miles of sandy beaches next to unbelievable turquoise waters, blow holes, and unusual rocks along the shore. No resorts here, just a few beachside clubs and bars scattered here and there. It's not unusual to take a stroll and see no one else.
You'll stop at one of the beach clubs, Punta Morena, for an authentic Mexican lunch that will include 1 choice of chicken, beef, or fish fajitas, quesadillas, or regular nachos. Drinks are not served with lunch but are available to purchase along with additional food. There are beach lounge chairs, hammocks, a pool, and lots of sandy beaches to explore before heading out to the next stop of your private dune buggy excursion.
Finally, your guide will lead you on the cross-island road back into town for some sightseeing and a stop to taste some true Mexican tequila. Learn about this drink, much that might surprise you. There are many ways to age, flavor, and drink tequila.
Your guide will lead you back to the meeting point where, depending on your cruise ship pier, you may either walk or take a taxi back to your pier at your leisure and cost.
Note: If your ship arrives on a Sunday, Punta Sur may not be open. Snorkeling will be substituted at Sky Reef. You may also have an additional stop at El Cedral. Additional locations could include Chocolate Factory, San Gervasio, Parasailing, etc. at an additional price.
