Whether you are vacationing in this incredible metropolitan city, in port for the day, or staying over before or after your cruise, this fun adventure is an exciting way to see it all! Barcelona, the capital and largest city in Spain, lies on the coast between two rivers, with a mountain range to the west. Its mild, warm climate, makes it a major tourist destination that was ranked as the 15th safest city in the world! An important cultural center, Barcelona is well known for its unusual and spectacular architecture, some from Medieval times and some from renowned architects of the 1920s and 1940s.
You will meet your guide in the Gothic Quarter near the Barcelona Cathedral, dedicated to Eulalia of Barcelona the co-patron saint of Barcelona. Travel through time as you stroll through the Old City (La Ribera), which was the wealthy section of the city in the 13th-15th centuries when it was actually by the seashore! From there you will move to the baroque-style Church of Sant Felip Neri, built in the 18th century. Did you know that Barcelona is known for its architecture and has nine structures that have been awarded the designation of UNESCO World Heritage Site?
Continue your walk down the Placa de Sant Jaume (Saint James Square), the administrative heart of Barcelona located in the center of the Old City. There you will see the Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia a historic palace. In the Jewish Quarter is the 14th-century Gothic Church of Santa Maria del Pi with its octagon bell tower and high altar constructed of alabaster. To conclude your land portion, you will walk down the magnificent tree-lined pedestrian mall of Ramblas, passing the Placa del Rei and the famous attraction of La Boqueria, the large public market.
It's time for a rest. Before boarding your boat at Port Vell, you will see the monument of Christopher Columbus pointing to the Americas. Relax as you sail along the coast, enjoying the magnificent views of Barcelona's skyline and the Mediterranean Sea! Back on land, you will be transferred by van to the heliport where you will board a helicopter for your adventure in the sky! Take in the panoramic views of Port Vell and Barceloneta known for its sandy beach and boardwalk with restaurants and bars. Barcelona was the host of the 1992 Olympic Games, so you will also get to see the Olympic Port and the Olympic Village on this final leg of your sightseeing adventure!
At the end of your experience, you may return to your hotel or cruise port at your leisure and your own expense. Whether on the land, sea, or in the air, Barcelona is a city to be treasured. Rather than getting lost in the crowds, choose either a morning or an afternoon time for your pleasurable, more personalized experience in a small group.
Have you always wanted to really see the best of Barcelona, but cannot decide what to do? Enjoy some of the best sightseeing on a guided walk through Old Town, a breath-taking helicopter ride and a water-front shoreline boat cruise.
