This Taino Bay, Puerto Plata Sightseeing and Beach Excursion begins outside the cruise center main gate of the port of Taino Bay, Puerto Plata. Your local Dominican Republic shore excursion guide will be waiting for you and will then show you to your comfortable air-conditioned transportation. Your first photo stop will be at Fort San Felipe, which is also known as El Morro de San Felipe. Commissioned by King Felipe II of Spain in 1564 it wasn't completed until 1577. Its strategic location helped to guard the entrance to the city's seaport for hundreds of years.

Next on this Puerto Plata sightseeing shore excursion, you'll stop for views and photos of the famed Neptune Statue which is situated on a small island just off the coast. Although quite impressive now, this statue has seen its share of woes. The 22 ft. bronze sculpture has been hacked for valuable metal, toppled over several times, and finally hacked to bits. However, the Islanders have a true love for their guardian of the sea and it was returned to its full glory and now, with the support of 3 cables, once again rules the sea.
Your next sightseeing excursion stop will be at the Parque Independencia, which is the center of town. With churches, gazebos, scattered benches, and local music often playing, it is a true taste of Puerto Plata.

Finally, you will be taken to Playa Dorado, known as the "Golden Beach" of Puerto Plata, which is located near the famous Hotel Blue JackTar, where a welcome drink awaits you. The ambiance is strictly tropical and friendly and boasts lovely beaches and surroundings. Take a stroll, take a dip, it's your choice. 

Your guide, as always, will inform you of the beach and resort activities available to you. You are welcome to purchase food and drinks from the hotel bar. You may use the lounge chair and other use of facilities including complimentary Wi-Fi internet access. You will spend approximately one hour on your beach break before returning to the cruise terminal.

Once you've enjoyed plenty of beach time, you will be returned to the Taino Bay, Puerto Plata cruise ship terminal after a great sightseeing excursion and beach resort excursion in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic!

Where we meet

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum age to participate is 6 years old.
• The minimum age for alcohol consumption on this shore excursion is 18 years old. 
• Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent.
• Guests must fit comfortably in one seat only on the bus/van.
• This Taino Bay, Puerto Plata Highlights, and Blue JackTar Beach Resort Excursion is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
